Festival Agile Trends – What an honor!

20 Jan 2021 | Lean Inception

TAG:

I am honoured to be a keynote speaker at the Festival Agile Trends.

It is always a pleasure and an honor to be speaking at the large agile events worldwide. But this one is especial for two reasons:

1. It is my first keynote speaking on a large event in Spain, the amazing country I live in.

I have been a keynote speaker a few times. Most of these were in Brazil where I am from and used to live from 2010 – 2019. I am glad and excited to be representing Brazil on worldwide events. And, even better, this time I will be speaking in Spanish. I have already done keynote talks on large events in Portuguese and English. Now it is time to do it in Spanish.

2. I am right next to our dear Mary Poppendieck

We all have some references and some great people that have inspired us over the years. Mary Poppendieck is one of my references. We have met on quite a few events before (events on the old world, where we would meet face to face). I have told this story before, but never registered on my blog, so here it goes.

At XPConf2015 I have presented a poster on the early version of the MVP Canvas (it was not even on the Lean Inception book) yet. On that event, I had a great conversation with Mary and Tom Poppendieck about the canvas poster. They gave me great feedback about it and inspired me to keep on working and sharing more about it. That is a great example of genuine great inspiring leaders. Thanks Mary and Tom!

Therefore, it is an honor to be keynote speaker, right next to Mary Poppendieck, a great inspiring leader. Of course, the other keynote speakers are amazing as well. Unfortunately, I will not have the chance to meet them face to face on this occasion. But I will be listening to their amazing talks.

About the keynote talk

KEYNOTE – A LEAN PROCESS FOR PRODUCT INNOVATION

PM used to be an abbreviation for Project Manager. Now it is used for Product Manager. The focus is on the product, not the project! It is about outcome, not output. But we need to connect a few dots to create amazing products that customers love. Let’s talk about connecting Objectives, Discovery, and Delivery as a process for product innovation.

Lean Inception: Learn How to Align People and Build the Right Product

Lean Inception is a crucial agile methodology for aligning teams on effective product creation. Introduced by Paulo Caroli, it combines Design Thinking and Lean StartUp techniques to define strategies and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) scope. It is valuable for large projects, startups, and business innovations. Not suitable for discovery activities, prototyping decisions, or cross-team alignment. Active participants, stakeholders, and skilled facilitators are essential for the success of this collaborative process. Lean Inception is fundamental for guiding teams toward meaningful and efficient product outcomes.

MVP philosophy and the Justified True Belief

Lately I have been listening and reading about philosophy and I came across a theory that got me thinking about hypothesis driven development, Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and validation. It is accredited to Plato from around 369 BC with the name of Justified True...
