{"id":11319,"date":"2021-01-12T09:39:50","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T08:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caroli.org\/en\/?p=11319"},"modified":"2021-01-17T22:49:09","modified_gmt":"2021-01-17T21:49:09","slug":"personal-futurespective-challenge-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caroli.org\/en\/personal-futurespective-challenge-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Personal futurespective to cross this cave (COVID)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">I confess that I did not do my personal retrospective of 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">I love retrospectives and I usually reserve an afternoon to do a personal retrospective at the end of the year. <strong>But at the end of 2020, I didn&#8217;t stop to do my personal retrospective<\/strong>. I didn&#8217;t want to stop to remember the great challenges (and sadness) of 2020 and the good things that 2020 brought to me. <strong>The world is in a very sad moment. I didn&#8217;t feel like doing my annual retrospective.<\/strong> But I needed to do something. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">So I decided to look for a <strong>futurespective, an activity that would help me look to the future.<\/strong> I went to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.funretrospectives.com\/category\/futurespective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FunRetrospectives.com\/futurospectives<\/a>, compared some options and chose an activity that worked very well. This pandemic is not over. It was what I needed for this moment of reflection: something with a future perspective to help me reflect on the story I am pursuing. After all, <strong>we haven&#8217;t left the pandemic cave yet! <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">These are the instructions for the activity:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>The hero<\/strong>: The person or group going through the journey.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The guide<\/strong>: The people and things guiding the hero.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The cavern:<\/strong> The challenges ahead.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The treasure<\/strong>: The awards and achievements.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Which I adapted (for personal activity) to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>The hero<\/strong>: Me! <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The guide<\/strong>: Everything that has helped me get through this cave.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The cavern:<\/strong> The challenges of the new world, with the reality of this pandemic.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The treasure<\/strong>: The achievements that await me when crossing this cave.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">I wanted to store the result of this activity. For this reason, I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.funretrospectives.com\/new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FunRetrospectives.com App<\/a> to create the activity board (I copied the link and saved it in a personal Google Doc to review throughout the year). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">But, when using the app I ended up paying attention to three things: <strong>(1) the context, (2) the primary directive and (3) themes for reflection.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11320\" src=\"https:\/\/caroli.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/01\/app-funretro-step2-en-300x195.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caroli.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/01\/app-funretro-step2-en-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/caroli.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/01\/app-funretro-step2-en.png 775w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">The FunRetro App presents some steps for me to create my retrospective agenda. Following these steps, I started by writing the context of my futurospective. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">Context: my personal futurospective, held in January 2021, to reflect on what I am doing and what I must do given this pandemic situation the world is going through. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o\"><span lang=\"en\">In the next step, the app gave me the option to choose the prime directive for my meeting: retrospective, futurospective, or team building? I selected and reflected on the prime directive for futurospectives. I made a small change in the text, from \u00b4we\u00b4 to \u00b4I\u00b4, as follow:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018Hope and confidence come from proper involvement and a willingness to predict the unpredictable. Each color refers to a theme. And that made me think of the three main themes for my futurospective.
