Kudos to the XPConf 2016 organizers. I could not have asked for a better fit.

First, we will have my talk on whisky, and then we will put the theory at practice! The whisky tasting. Check out the schedule below. See you there!

16.45-17.30 Whisky, Sushi, Systems and Flow – Paulo Caroli (Industry & Practice, 45 minutes)

Abstract: Come participate in a conversation that challenges you to think about everyday implicit systems and flow parameters. Let’s talk about the following: my whiskey bar, my plane boarding skills, the traffic jam on a weekend beach trip, and my frustration while waiting for a temaki on a Japanese restaurant. These examples will guide our conversation about flow parameters, systems thinking, theory of constraint and queues.

Learning outcome:

– Great examples to be used when explaining flow and systems

– Understand flow parameters

– Two simple ways to control lead and cycle time

– How to use the lead time for planning

– The correlation between limiting WIP and lead time reduction.

– A simple life example of Systems Thinking

– An understanding on queues, wait time and class of service
