Define the criteria<\/h2>\n<p>I ask the participants to individually write all the criteria they consider for making the choice. Then we group the similar criteria and create a unique list of criteria.<\/p>\n<p>For example, my family is currently looking for an apartment to rent. Following is the generated list of criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>number of rooms<\/li>\n<li>rooms size and brightness<\/li>\n<li>couple&#8217;s suite<\/li>\n<li>number of bathrooms<\/li>\n<li>kitchen quality<\/li>\n<li>apartment size<\/li>\n<li>laundry area<\/li>\n<li>external area<\/li>\n<li>parking space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>2. Decide the value scale for each criteria<\/h2>\n<p>Promote a conversation among participants about the value scale for each criteria.<\/p>\n<p>For example, in my family we love to be in the kitchen, so I suggested the \u201ckitchen quality\u201d scale from 0 to 10. Since we don&#8217;t have a car (but an outdoor bike area would still be interesting), we decided to use the \u201cparking space\u201d scale from 0 to 3.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Grade the criteria for each option<\/h2>\n<p>For each criteria, compare the options, giving grades for each one.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Talk about the result<\/h2>\n<p>By now, most likely, everyone will be looking for the option with the best result.<\/p>\n<p>Have a conversation about what the numbers show.
