Want to improve your publishing results?
So you better get organized. But relax, you are not alone. Many of us have the same feeling.
Below I will share something that has helped me getting rid of the publishing inertia. Even though I was generating content, I felt I could do much better, especially if I got myself a little more organized. It is the 1-7-30-4-2-1 model.
I have learned it from the amazing book Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business (New Rules Social Media Series) by Ann Handley, and C.C. Chapman
Then I started using it, and have already shared with many colleagues. Therefore, I am posting it to enable even more colleagues to peek on this great and simple idea.
It is the 1-7-30-4-2 -1 Russell’s model for publishing content, which stands for the answering the following question:
What is your X publishing commitment? (where X = either 1 for daily, 7 for weekly, 30 for monthly, 4 for quarterly, 2 for biannual, and 1 for yearly)
Here is my 1-7-30-4-2 -1 publishing schedule:
1. Daily
- Read and respond to tweeter, FB, LinkedIn, and email
7. Weekly
- Blog post (at least one)
- Update a page or old post (or translate it to another language)
- Upload a short video.
- Curate content for social media management system (newsfeed, Google alert, RSS, tweeter, LinkedIn, etc)
30. Monthly
- Publish one article
- Send email newsletter
- One guest post (mine somewhere or someone on my blog)
4. Quarterly
- Publish one white paper or pdf
- EBook update
- Post a video series
- Special issue for the newsletter
2. Biannual
- Conference speaking (keynote)
- Workshop delivery
1 Annual
- New book (or eBook) release
Don´t be shy. Go for it! Let people get access to the amazing content you are about to share.
