Mob programming

What?! Two people programming on the same computer? Are you crazy?!

This is what came to my mind in 2001 when I first read Kent Beck´s eXtreme Programing explained book.

Years later, it feels weird when I walk by an agile development team and don’t see two people working on the same computer.

Suddenly I get the same feeling again:

What?! The whole team working on the same code, at the same time, using one computer?!

Yes, this is called Mob Programming.

And I heard about it from Alexandre Freire and Woody Zuill at QConRio 2015.

Imagine a dojo. Now imagine a dojo all day long. Yeap, it feels like it: Mob Programming.

And it gets even better. I am a big fan of weekly retrospectives. But Alexandre and Woody bit me. Forget about weekly retrospectives. They have been doing daily retrospectives for Mob Programming!

I am looking forward to 2030 and seeing how agile teams will be working by then. Bring it on!

Check out this (free) E-Book on experimentation. Mob programming is great for  experimentation teams.
