How do you think about activities and prepare the agenda for a workshop?

TAG:

Many times, I am invited to facilitate retrospectives, inceptions and workshops.

For retrospectives, I use the FunRetrospectives.com agenda builder. For inceptions, I will either plan a Lean Inception, or decide the activities according to the requester intention for the inceptions (I will select activities from the inception activities menu and prepare the agenda).

But for “generic workshops”, typically, I interview the requester, then I write a context. After that, I open the FunRetrospectives site to think about activities and prepare the workshop agenda.

I decided to make a video. I started recording after I have written the context, and I was about to look for the activities for the workshop.

Here is the video: How do you think about activities and prepare for a workshop?

For this specific workshop, I have created a Mural template – 3-hour leadership workshop for retro, team alignment and insights –, which you can find here. I did run it in three hours, for seven participants. The agenda worked really well!

Please find below the image from the mural template. Please note on it the step-by-step for each workshop activity.

Below you find the context, the prime directive and the activities for the workshop:

FunRetro Agenda for Team Building: Align on Goal and Expectations

A FunRetro agenda for a series of team-building activities designed to help a group align on goals and expectations. This agenda has proven effective for teams in discord, with misaligned expectations frequently identified as the root cause of issues. The sequence begins by establishing a common team goal—a typically simpler task—and then progresses to critically address the alignment of expectations.

More than Dot Voting: 3 Alternative Filtering Options to Enhance Your Retrospectives

You should move beyond the conventional method of dot voting to prioritize topics on a retrospective or similar sessions. While dot voting offers simplicity and efficiency, it often leads to misunderstandings due to its binary nature. The article introduces three compelling alternatives: plus-minus voting, reactions filtering, and “Select One and Talk.” By embracing these diverse approaches, you can enhance engagement and gain deeper insights during retrospectives, fostering a more inclusive and enriching team growth experience.
