Delivery team OKR workshop

I have run a two hour delivery team OKR workshop with Edmundo Pórtoles. Please find below the workshop agenda and the conversations that happened on it.

OKR training agenda

  • OKR theory – 25 m
  • OKR activity 1 – road trip to Rome – 10 m
  • Conversation 1 – 15 m
  • Lunch break (pizza) – 20 m
  • OKR activity 2 – XYZ MVP launch activity – 20 m
  • Conversation 2 – 30 m

OKR road trip to Rome activity

Objective: Get to Rome after a nice road trip (departing from Barcelona)

Please write the Key Results for this objective.

Here are some of the conversation that followed:
  • Should we split into two objectives? (Get to Rome, Nice road trip)?
  • OKR checkpoints & review sessions (get to Rome)
  • Being closer to Rome every day vs. Deviating to visit a nice location (nice road trip)
  • Number of 5 star hotels stays per week
  • Number of museum visits per week

OKR XYZ MVP launch activity

Objective: to launch an awesome MVP

Please write the Key Results for this objective.

Here are some of the conversation that followed:
  • Strategie vs tactic vs operational
  • Launch or launching? OKR should not be binary
  • Launching – MVP, continuous delivery and incremental user reach and validation
  • To measure features delivery vs user satisfaction
  • To write the OKR based on the concept of MVP, even before having a Lean Inception to align (and details) about the MVP
  • OKR setup workshop (strategy) vs Lean Inception (tactic to operational)
  • OKR setup workshop (quarterly) vs OKR check point (weekly) vs OKR review meeting (monthly)
  • Mapping OKR to initiatives to tasks is not straight forward for a delivery team!
